Spring Market: Getting Your Home Ready

After what seems like an eternity, winter has come to an end & sellers are eager to get their home ready to list.

As we all know, first impressions are everything and can potentially ‘make or break’ someone’s interest in purchasing a home. This is the time you need to be cleaning, re-organizing, purging, completing unfinished projects, etc. All of your efforts will help with the sale of your home.

One of the first steps to getting your home ready is to focus on sprucing up curb appeal. Potential home buyers will see the exterior of your home as they arrive, or will have previously viewed a photo online, and you want to make sure they are impressed. Gardening & landscaping are easy ways to do just that; show off your lawn with a professional cut, or by adding some new, bright flowers to the garden and front porch. Other things you can do to help are power washing the siding, porch/steps, or driveway; by washing away salt & other signs of winter, you will give your home a fresher, cleaner look.

Some other ideas include:

  1. Adding a new door mat
  2. Painting your door or window shutters a bright, fun colour
  3. New flower pots to replace old, faded ones
  4. Roll up & neatly store hoses and other lawn supplies
  5. Pick up and dispose of debris around property – sticks, compost/leaves
  6. Swap out old patio furniture for a new set & create a fun seating area in the front and/or back yard

If you need help with the process of getting your home ready to sell, or have already completed all of those unfinished projects & are ready to list, get in touch. I’m always available to chat, answer questions and help with all aspects of the selling & buying process.
